WBENC - Women Entrepreneur Conference, USA

A BLOG POST BY SUE LAWTON, GLOBAL ADVISOR TO WECONNECT INTERNATIONAL. For three days Minneapolis has been the centre of the world for women entrepreneurs. 3,000 women business owners and purchasing professionals from large corporations were gathered, sharing time, sharing experiences, but most importantly sharing business contract opportunities.

For the women of the US this is an annual contract fest, an overdose of business connections, a space where a year’s worth of networking can be condensed into three days. It is perhaps the worlds best kept secret, but like all good secrets the word is getting out there into the global market place.

The WBENC (Women’s Business Enterprise National Council) www.wbenc.com 2013 saw a large delegation from Canada, ladies from India, Peru and Mexico, but where were the women from the UK, Europe and Australia?

The surveys tell us time and again that American women top the league for enterprise activity. If more women started and grew a business, statistics show that there will be a growth of the world’s GDP - but what we are not doing is learning the tricks of the trade.  Watching what our American sisters are doing that is making them so productive and successful.

Two easy steps would be:

  1. Attend the WBENC conference 2014.  It is taking place June 23 – 25 in Philadelphia.  You have the information!
  2. Hold a global conference mirroring the style, the corporate sponsorship and the access to contracts from around the world.

Can you imagine the power of such a focused event?  Not just a talking shop, but a real business shop, for serious business owners who are ready to do the deals. The doors are no longer closed but we need the energy and vision to make it happen. Time for action I think!
